Should I see a pelvic PT if I’m pregnant but have no issues?

  • A pelvic PT can provide education and assistance throughout your pregnancy. Seeing a PT before symptoms may occur can help reduce the risk of injury during pregnancy or during birth. If you are not experiencing symptoms a PT can assess your baseline pelvic health, posture, strength and mobility. Wherever you may be in your pregnancy journey a pelvic PT can help you better understand how your body is changing and how to continue to move throughout your pregnancy as well as labor and delivery.

Will Pelvic PT make the use of tampons more comfortable?

  • Yes! There are multiple reasons why tampon insertion and wearing can be uncomfortable. Pelvic PT can help assist with decreasing sensitivity in your pelvic floor, improving your posture, and give you tools to decrease muscle tension in your pelvic floor. All of these can help you use a tampon if you’ve never been able to, or be more comfortable wearing one.

Is there a correlation between a tight pelvic floor and hemorrhoids?

  • Having a tight pelvic floor can contribute to constipation which can have an impact on hemorrhoids. Some of the leading causes of hemorrhoids include straining during bowel movements, chronic constipation, sitting for long periods of time on the toilet, and overactive pelvic floor muscles. Pelvic PT can be helpful to reduce pelvic floor muscle tension and improve constipation and hemorrhoids!
