Vaginal Weights

Vaginal weights for training the pelvic floor muscles have been a common topic as of late – why is this? Since pelvic floor therapy is becoming more known, there are plenty of women and men that want to get ahead of the game with making sure their pelvic floor muscles are nice and strong.

Some ways you can do this include the usage of vaginal weights. Now, before attempting to use weights, it is very important to consult with your medical provider or pelvic floor physical therapist to see if you would benefit from using vaginal weights in the first place.

What Are They Helpful For?

Strength training of the pelvic floor muscles is one of the best ways to help someone decrease symptoms of incontinence or prolapse symptoms. Vaginal weights are usually cone shaped and can be inserted into the vaginal canal. After inserting the weights, you would then contract your pelvic floor muscles gently to hold in the vaginal weight and prevent it from slipping out. You can even just insert the weight and carry on your normal day to day tasks to challenge yourself to keep the weight in without actually performing pelvic floor contractions.

Make sense? This really is a great way to determine if your muscles are getting stronger, but as stated before – it is important to consult with your healthcare provider before attempting to use any sort of vaginal weight.
