Pride Awareness and LGBTQ+ Pelvic Health Care
As a physical therapy clinic committed to inclusive and compassionate care, we recognize the importance of Pride Awareness in promoting the health and well-being of the LGBTQ+ community, including addressing specific needs in pelvic health care.
LGTBQ+ and Pelvic Health
Members of the LGBTQ+ community often face unique challenges when it comes to healthcare, including pelvic health. Issues such as pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction, and gender-affirming care require a sensitive and understanding approach that respects individual identities and experiences.
In previous blogs we have discussed gender affirming surgeries, pelvic pain including sexual dysfunction in males and females and gender identity expression. Pelvic pain effects every sexual orientation at any age. At our clinic, we strive to create a welcoming and affirming environment where all patients feel safe and respected. Every treatment room is private allowing patients the space to tell their story.
We understand that addressing pelvic health concerns can be deeply personal and may involve navigating issues related to gender identity, sexual orientation, and body image. That’s why we prioritize open communication and collaboration, working closely with each patient to develop personalized treatment plans that align with their unique goals and values.
Physical Therapy Interventions
Pelvic health interventions go beyond just treating the pelvis. Our patients often have a multi-disciplinary team of medical healthcare professionals to help them while they combat pelvic health conditions for example pudendal neuralgia, PTOS, endometriosis, etc. Our goal is to empower individuals to achieve optimal pelvic health and overall well-being. As a result, we have many treatment options available to suit individual goals and needs.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Manual therapy
- Internal pelvic floor muscle release
- Trigger point therapy
- Nerve mobilization
- Soft tissue mobilization
- Joint mobilization
- Visceral mobilization
- Craniosacral therapy
- Therapeutic Exercises
- Low pressure Fitness
- Yoga
- Pilates
- Biofeedback
- Real-time ultrasound
- Cupping
- Posture re-education
- Neuromuscular re-education
- PNF
- Balance
- Patient Education
During Pride Awareness Month and beyond, we celebrate diversity, advocate for equality, and reaffirm our commitment to providing inclusive pelvic health care for all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
